Seal the wood. The seal coat is a single coat that goes on before the gloss. Depending on the product you use, this process can vary. Many glosses are self-sealing or intended to be sealed with a coat of wood stain. When using wood stain, simply paint an even layer on the surface of the wood to seal it.

Apply the wood stain. Use a paintbrush to apply the stain, and wipe off excess stain with a lint-free cloth.

What Is a Semi-Gloss Finish?

If a high gloss shine is not appropriate for the décor in your home, you may opt for a more subtle matte finish on the plywood but still keep wood showing through. Apply additional coats of paint. Depending on the paint and the desired finish, a second and third coat of paint may be required. Lightly sand the primed surface. Lightly sand the primer with 220-grit sandpaper. This is a light sanding to only smooth out any rough spots on the surface, not to remove the primer, so sanding by hand is preferable. The smoother you manage to layer your clear coats, the easier it will be to sand and the higher the grit in which you will start the polishing, thus saving both time and effort.

Lightly sand the plywood with 220-grit sandpaper. This will prepare the plywood for your chosen finish. Hard-wearing, durable gloss paint with a subtle sheen. Not as hard- wearing as traditional gloss. Apply the paint to the plywood with a brush. Apply an even coat of whitewash mix paint on the plywood. It is possible to convert a satin finish into a shiny or glossy finish guitar, and you can actually do it yourself. You can take the guitar to the music shop to get the finishing changed.

Dilute your paint 50/50. For water-based paint, dilute with water, and for solvent-based paint, dilute the paint with thinners. Generally, furniture wax isn’t used to achieve a high-gloss finish. Though it can be buffed and polished to provide a level of sheen, if you’re looking for a noticeably glossy look, you’re better off with a different gloss finish product in nearly all cases. The Benefits of a Gloss Finish

DIY Guitar Kits are the perfect way to build yourself a unique guitar at a budget price. This can also be a gift to a guitar lover who likes to tinker or even a handyman (or woman) who would appreciate the challenge. Most Guitar Kits are modeled resembling some of the most familiar and iconic guitars we are all known by shape if not name. Most kits will also come without a finish. What can make your kit a one-of-a-kind is often the finish you will apply to it. Considering one of the appealing aspects of the kit building is that you do not need to have the tools of professional guitar builders you may ask yourself: How do I Finish my Guitar Kit (to look) like a Pro?
