To make sure the boots would keep their shape, I made a foam base and covered this foam base with fabric. People weren't necessarily impressed with the costume or act, but they said it was really nice to see an "old" design character, considering most cosplay competitions here nowadays are filled with people in big fantasy armors in likewise styles (not that there is anything wrong with that, but you see a lot of likewise outfits in a competition over here).

I like with Lilith how she comes over as very sexy, but is still quite clothed (she only has bare shoulders). D I always like to make overviews/stories like this as it's also a good diary and memory for myself about such a huge project. I also met up with a Roshi at the same convention and he was so completely in-character I couldn't stop laughing.Chi-Chi's hairstyle is a variation of a hime-cut, which I already cut multiple times, but I wanted to make this one a bit more special. Lots of people wanted to make pictures of us when we were talking and he even had a "master Roshi approves of this" sign with him. And now let's get to the part how not every idea is a good idea and I sometimes think to myself "why did I even try to make this work"? I started with making this costume for fun, but I was lured into signing up for a cosplay competition with it, so I also had a though deadline where I couldn't remake every part that I wanted from it! Definitely looking forward to seeing your Lilith progress too That way the weight of the cape was on the top, my chest and my back instead of resting on the shoulderplates. It's perfect for working on cosplay, because I know that everything I make on the mannequin will fit me too!

In some of the newer games and media young Chi-Chi's design has more blue-ish green, so I got quite some comments why I didn't go for that color version, but I think this bold green is a lot better.

So for this costume to be wearable again, I will have to remake and/or strengthen a lot of parts and to be honest I don't have much motivation for that right now and I prefer to move on to the next project.

I had quite a hard time finding the right shade of dark blue, but I'm pretty content with how this color turned out! How long the drying process takes depends on the weather, but on a general (quite cold) day in the Netherlands this can take a full day. I sometimes wear my helmet or other parts seperately at lazy days on conventions, just because I like how they turned out. Because of the (quite unexpected, to be honest) positive reactions I got on my previous cosplay project blog blog/20041 , I decided to also make a blog about my Chi-Chi costume project!

The first version of the wings were functioning enough, but not that great, so I hope to improve them soon. Which I actually quite like, because it's just after the part where I throw the blade from my helmet. In Chi-Chi's character design most of her hair pieces are quite "square" and I decided I wanted to literally recreate this effect. She looked incredibly cute, was very though, but became all girly and fiddly when her crush was around!Even though the cape and top are seperate parts, I decided that construction-wise it was better to cheat and put them together. I’ve considered writing up a glove tutorial eventually since I wanted to toss one together for Sora’s (since a tutorial for that is non-existent) XD I’ve come across a few here and there. Even though I didn't like the fit around my fingers, I was quite content with how I made the outer shape (I used a likewise method as how I made the boots covers). When the costume was close to finishing I uploaded this teaser to show what I had so far and also to show how the design from the cape and top works View spoiler Hide spoiler the fabric at the top of my shoulders is not visible when wearing the wig and this was also before ironing everything, so pardon the small mess :P.
